O Captain! My Captain!

by Walt Whitman

I.

O captain! my captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the stead keel, the vessel grim and daring.

But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red!
Where on the deck my captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

II.

O captain! my captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up! for you the flag is flung, for you the bugle trills:
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths, for you the shores a-crowding:
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning.

O captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck
You've fallen cold and dead.

III.

My captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will.
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done:
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won!

Exult, O shores! and ring, O bells!
But I, with silent tread,
Walk the spot my captain lies
Fallen cold and dead.

last night at youth, we were sitting outside talking (me, kat, lucy and heather) and suddenly, kat says "ooh im a little bit scared" and we're like huh, and looking around and then we see this really dirty man walking towards us with a scary looking dog. we were in minto. and i was thinking... OMG we're all sitting down theres no way we can run away or anything cos he's too close. im like shit if he's going to hurt us... we cant stop it. but he just walked past us and we are all silent and staring at him mouths open. then hes like ... oh is there a priest here. and kats like... no we dont have a priest, this is a youth group. and then hes like... oh. and walkes off a bit then turns around and says well what do you have. and kats like... a pastor but hes not here. then hes like oh. and walkes away for good. and we're stunned just sitting there.

it was great! then david came and sat with us for a bit and i told everyone how i hate the muslim groups at my uni cos they dance and sing and its really annoying. (i dont hate them.... i just hate what they do. its like the aboriginal thing)
and the whole night was basically very funny and we pissed ourselves laughing at everything. it was crazy. and fun.

and thats about it. im working this after noon and i have more hours next week so i dont need to get another job, which i seriously dont think i could of handled. with uni, glorias, the gym and PUBLIC TRANSPORT! i have no spare time. but whatever. obviously all is fine.

Things have never been so swell i have never felt this well...

Things that i am going to do but probably shouldn't:

1. invest great hope in the sleepover
2. read killing aurora again
3. leave my assignment for a few more days
4. laugh when dean tells a joke
5. doodle the initials D.H. on my note pad, because its so strange that three boys i like have those initials.
6. remember every time is see this girl in class that i introduced myself to her twice and now she doesnt talk to me
7. care that this girl doesnt talk to me.

7 is such a moderated number.

12th-Feb-2006 04:00 pm - oh my giddy goodness
today at work, (me working on a sunday? oh i know, its straight to hell for me) i experienced "love" as in L-O-V-E... love at first sight.

fair enough, his name is mike and he is an ambulance officer and he looks about 23 and he winked at me when i was serving him... but i know its love! lol

he ordered a regular mocha with an extra shot. our conversation went like this:

ME: hey how are you going? *sweet smile cos hes cute*

HIM: good thanks, yourself?

ME: good thanks, what can i get you today?

HIM: uh... just a regular mocha, extra shot

ME: any cream?

HIM: *strange smirky smile* no thanks

ME: so just a regular mocha, thats $4.20 but you get half price cos you're an ambo... so thats $2.10

HIM: oh, thanks!

*exchange of money*

*he holds frequent sipper card in hand*

ME: can i stamp your card for you?

HIM: *another strange smirky smile* sure you can stamp my card

ME: there you go, and can i just have your first name for the order?

HIM: uh, its mike

ME: ok, thanks mike, it wont be long

HIM: *winks* thanks sarah

(my name? only old customers use the servers name!)

*approx 3 mins later*

ME: There you go mike, have a nice day *sweet smile*

HIM: Thanks, you too *waves*

* deep breathing *

ITS LOVE!!!!

"we never knew"

my pale skin has been dirtied
and my blonde hair has been mussed,
i tremble on my feet
and tremble with your lust

your eyes hold a silence
that i never knew how to take,
your danger and your nature
made me risk all that at stake

it wasnt my propriety
or my fierce green eyed stare
that made you touch my face,
that brought you, standing there.

so as we meet,
we kiss so sweet
a goodbye, we never knew

a losing chance
for one last glance
of love, that now is through.

you take me where
i shed,
many worries and fears
and laughter and tears

but the sign in the sky
says its over.
